New Tires
New Tires
So heres my problem, i have the stock rims and tires on my car (for now) and i need new tires ASAP
i have rims on order (been waiting over 2 months) but dont really know when they are going to be in, and they are 9.5 inches wide.
i want to get the Z1 starspec's but the only size that i can get that will work on the stock rims is the 255/35 18. So will they work on the rims that i have on order (whenever i do get them)?
Thanks in Advance

I would think they would work. I'm basing this off of me having 17X9 and running 275s while others were running 235-245 on a 9in width rim....so I would think a 255 would be ok for a 9.5 in rim.
But don't take my word for it. Just call up a random installer and ask them. They'd probably tell you without being dicks about it.

Anyways...
According to:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Spec.j...um%3D44WR8Z1SS
The measured rim width of 255/35ZR18 is 9" but it will fit 8.5"-10" and has 10.3" section width. The problem with that tire size is that the rolling diameter is only 25" where as stock is 25.7". It will work but you are going to see around +150 RPM's at 80 mph cruise in 5th gear.
The only other size tire that will fit both a stock 8.5" wheel AND a 9.5" wheel are the stock size 245/40ZR18. They have a measured rim width of 8.5" and fit a 8"-9.5" wheel with a 9.8" section width. They may end up looking a little tight on the 9.5" rims but they won't be as small in diameter and I already hate how high rpm our cars run on the highway.
Then down the road I would get 275/35ZR18 tires which are almost the same diameter as stock and have a good 1.2" extra rubber on the road.
