is +35 offset ok?

The rims I'm looking at are work emotion xd9 18x8 5x114.3 +35 offset. I know its a little small for the Evo but its a great deal...it comes wrapped with AS Poxes for cheap...so will this fit fine?

Also would I loose some handling since the tires are 225/40/18 instead of 245?

Are these for snow tires?

If this is for summer stuff, then I wouldn't get those (although they will work). Skinny tires look kinda silly on the X.

And you'd lose a TON of handling and your speedo will be off with 225/40s.

18X8 is only .5 skinnier than the stock evo rims...I was thinking I'd put the AS toyos on the stock rims and put the stock advans on the Works and only use it for summer so the tires for the summer would be 245s...

they won't sit very flush with the fenders, i was running 18x9.5 +34 on my x, now I installed 10mm spacers and it looks a lot better.

Of course you will lose handling by going to narrow tires unless they are intended for snow driving. why would Mitsubishi increase the width of X tire over evo8/9?

The stock advans are already a bit too big for the 8.5" stock wheel.

You don't want these 8" wheels for anything but winter tires.

Sorry, sometimes a "good deal" isn't.

you're seriously still going with the 18x8+35 rims?? even after all the negative advice?

if so ... WTF did you even ask for advice hahahaha ... I'm running 18x9.5+22 and I wish I would have gone wider ... its not exactly flush ... and when I park next to my friend with the same rims but 18x10.5+25 ... I cry inside

but hey its your car, its a free country, you're allowed to ruin it as you please

here are some "awesome" 18x8s ...

^ Wow. He's got the whole package; I even see a poorly done spray-tint job on the rear tails. Fantastic! He's just missing curb feelers and those little chrome strips that go around the fenders and door seams.

try going on the evo IX wheels thread here, there are some deals on there as well that are better than your 18x8 +35 offset.
