Spacer Recommendations?

Guys,

I am most likely going with a 19x18.5, 30mm offset rim, and I am planning to use spacers.....what would be the largest spacer size I can go with? 5mm is probably the largest, but just wanted to confirm, thanks!

If you don't want extended studs 5mm would be the biggest size. There are lots of problems that come with using spacers, 8.5 +30 works fine already so I would think twice before putting spacers on.

Thought you said that spacers work well as long as they were hub centric with the right hubsize and not too oversized (like 15mm)?

Oh I mentioned in the faq on the other forum that you should get the offset right in the first place so you wouldn't have to use spacers. I wouldn't use spacers personally, but they work decent if necessary care and maintenance is done.

i ran 10mm and 5mm spacers for over a year and no problems. just make sure you get the ones that have lugs attached to the spacer itself and not the slide on spacers.

You would be better off going with wider, lower offset rims rather than going with spacers if you are looking for a wide stance. I used spacers on my SRT-4 and will never use them again as I had to re-torque the lug nuts almost bi-weekly as they wouldn't stay tight. Because of that I never felt comfortable driving long distances with them on. Also some others in the community had their studs break off at the track while using spacers. IMO you are always best off to have the wheel come in direct contact with the hub rather than putting something between them.

I've had those 20mm spacers on my car through a number of Auto-X events... to this day no issues to report.

Those lug nuts can take a beating - the finish still looks new!

On a Evo X, you can go big spacers with stock wheels.

Were these fitted hub centric spacers? Why would lock nuts be more prone to backing out than than the lugs?
