18x 7.5" +25mm offset wheel fitment

as any of you install this set up for winter tires.

I used the stock rim to install 225 michelin X-ice but the tire is too much stretch.
I am thinking to go with a narrower rim for next winter.

I don't want the tire to be too much flush with the fender as they spread gravel and snow on the side of the car. I would like to be like stock tire which I think is 22mm.

thanks

Stock Evo wheel is 18x8.5 +38 offset

to go to a smaller rim 18x7.5 you would need a +51 mm offset have the stock clearance at the strut.

http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp

says you need 7.5 with -3 offset to be near how a 9.5 +22 wheel would fit almost flush.. ??? lol

thank you very much for your link. It is usefull. I saved it.

but in fact I was right (or very close). as the wheel will be narrower I would like the tire to stay as it is stock on the outside. The calculator show +25mm offset to have the same outer positon. I was just 3mm more.
The one inch narrower will be between the wheel and the strut.

There's more then just offset at play here. The face of the rim will be the deciding factor. Even though you only have "3mm" difference, if the face is too low, you won't clear your calipers.

you are correct and I need to check as I even think that the evo need the spokes to be slightly curved to clear the caliper
