quick fitment question

hey guys i was reading the fitment thread and i am assuming that the wheel info given was for stock suspension?

friend has an evo x with coilovers so its lowered a bit from stock height. he just got some advans, 18x10, +25 with 265/35 tires. When putting the fronts on, it feels like the clearance between the tire and the strut is very small if even enough to work. He is still waiting on lug nuts so we havent had the chance to lower it down yet and i know it should gain a little more clearance as the shock is compressed. raising it up is no problem if we have to but i wanted to ask those of you that have these size wheels if you had any problems? need to run a spacer?
thanks for the help

It should probably fit. Just make sure you don't run crazy negative camber in the front and that should bring the inside lip of the rim away from the shock body.

Actually, once the wheel is on the hub, unless you change camber using an eccentric bolt on the knuckle, that clearance is static -- even with the spring compressing or changing camber using camber plates.

You need 2-3mm at least in order to make sure you don't rub on the spring/shock when the tire is deflected during hard cornering. If he doesn't get that clearance when you bolt everything up, he might have to run a 3mm spacer to give him the clearance.

He's likely going to have to roll the rear fenders as well.

Yes, that is what I meant by changing camber - using the eccentric bolt on the knuckle. This is the most common way of changing camber in the Evo. Its amazing how much camber can be dialed in without the use of camber plates and such.

Uh wut?

You get -1 (stock) to ~-2* using the stock bolt. That's not a lot honestly... and it really can't be dialed in considering that it's only got two real positions.

I'm talking about swapping the lower bolt with an eccentric that lets you get even more camber (-3*+).

ok thanks for the help guys. yeah the lug nuts came in yesterday and we will have the wheels back from the shop on friday. its pretty hard to tell the actual amount of clearance once the wheel is on, do you guys recommend any way to get the most accurate idea of how much room is in there? also ill mention that eccentric bolt suggestion to him as well.
thanks
