As an owner of an Evo 8, I can tell you for sure it's from the heat that over time degrades the clearcoat off the calipers. It's a manufacturing defect. Do a search on caliper fading on the Evo 1-9 portion of this website, every Evo experiences it.

You can never prevent the fade unless you simply don't drive your car. Nothing can be done either to prevent it, so don't even worry about waxing it.

The upside is, it's a simple process to restore it, again search the site on repainted or recleared Brembos. Many ppl sand it down and simply reapply high temp clear coat and it's good as new for the next 5 years or so.

And yes, if you track your car and go hard on the brakes, the color will turn brown instead.

OP is worried over his brembos turning pink.

Come on, Pink is a pretty badass color. Nobody rides on pink.

Brownbos occur from heat transfusing from the Pads into the caliper. And only from really hard braking where you are getting the calipers over 800+ degrees. You can combat this by installing titanium heat shields between the pads and the calipers and they acts as a heat sink/ barrier to keep the heat off the calipers. Originally designed to keep your fluid from boiling and releasing water into your brake system while race they will keep caliper temps down and help prevent color change. They have been known to make your pads queak but they are designed for racing so most of our customers don't care. We have had many customers run them on the street and just love them so if you drive hard and your worried about making your calipers chance color our ti shields might be for you.

so if its the clear coat thats wearing off and discoloring the brembos, why dont people just get them repowdercoated or even better, just get them clear coated again after the coat fades

Their definitely commonly found on the 8 and 9's.. The 10's are too new to be able to see if this will occur or not.. If they ever fade isn't there a person on here that powercoats brake calibers and rebuilds them as well?? I don't know his name off the top of my head.

A ridiculous amount.

Come on now, how hard is it to repaint or powdercoat your own calipers?

If you can drive your car hard enough to hit 800 degrees at the caliper, you can take your calipers off and paint them. :P
