Hey you make your own decisions. You asked for peoples thoughts and opinions. I gave you mine and you want to argue with me. I'm not here to argue with you.

I would NOT go with either of the sizes you're listing. It's your car and your decision though.

Search on here though because other people have had rubbing issues with winter tires when they go to the taller aspect ratio.

I apologize if I sounded argumentative in my last post, it wasn't meant to be like that. I really appreciate all that you have stated and your help with understanding this issue better. The only reason I am going back and forth is due to the lack of my grip on this matter, not to argue in any way whatsoever. The need is mine, I know better than to argue with those lending me advice .

I will be trying the Hankook V12 Evo per Car and Driver's test...mainly because Star Specs aren't offered in a 19. The wheel is 19x10 and a 285/30/19 tire has nearly the same overall dimensions as the stock wheels. Just some food for thought. Your main concerns should be the overall diameter of the wheel + tire. The 285/30/19 is less than .5% off of factory spec.

New to EVO so my tire experience comes from Porsche.

I had Kuhmo Ecsta MX on the car and they were a great tire. A little noisy is my only complaint. They were very sticky and wore very well. I did 2 HPDE and about 8 auto crosses and still got 12K miles out of the rears (2002 Boxster S). They did just as well on the 911 (95 993 - this car had the ones 1 up from MX, just don't remember what the letters were). There may be better tires out there for specific purposes (sticker for track, or quieter for the road, or longer wear etc), but from my experience FOR THE PRICE, the Kuhmos were difficult to beat.

In South Florida, wet traction is always an issue. At the Autocrosses my times were typically as good in the rain as the dry, tires never got squirrely in the sudden heavy down pours we get all the time.

On the track they were great. Break away was smooth and predictable.
My buddy just put the Direzzas on his WW GSR. He did one track day with them and loved them. Let's see how they wear.

Bridgestone tires generally work the best on the EVO

Boy am I glad I listened to y'all. If I had gone 265 40 18, there would've been rubbing. here are some pics after install. Everything else on the car is stock (for now ).

The tire is really not as close to the inner fender well lining as it sems in this photo, there's a good 1/4" remaining.
