Wheel paint question...

My two drivers side wheels have paint that is bubbling around the center cap. I am going into the dealer soon to have them looked at to see about getting them covered under warranty. If they don't cover it I definitely won't be buying from Mitsu again, but either way. After I either do or don't get this issue fixed, I am considering painting the wheels a charcoal color with the new Dupli-color wheel paint. I know I could use their clear coat, but is there a place online that would sell a harder one that may not chip up as much? I've had a lot of chipping on my OE wheels and so would just like to get some input on what I could do to help stop it if I decide to paint them another color... or even if I paint them the same color and just add more clearcoat to them.
