So Which Is Stronger?

The forged OEM BBS rim?

Or the cast OEM Enkei rim?

I thought the forged BBS rim would be stronger but I am reading on other threads that they are more brittle than the cast rim, and dent and bend easily?

What say you?

And if I was looking for an affordable after market rim to abuse on the crappy highways of America what ight you recommend?

A good sized pot hole will destroy any wheel, regardless if it is forged or cast.

To answer your question, forged is stronger.

Get a heavier cast rim for bad roads if you are worried. If it's a good brand, then the extra weight will usually translate into higher durability. With rims and performance it's always a trade-off between weight and strength (at least on wheels for the average buyer).

Just buy some cheap Rotas and you won't care if you bend a rim. If you've bent one already, you'll bend another regardless if it's forged or not. I used to have expensive forged rims (SSR Comps) and I bent one. I won't buy expensive rims again.

Give AME and Enkei a try. The stock Enkei wheels are not the best of the Enkei world. AME is also made by Enkei and are usually not so commonly found on cars. I personally run the AME TM02 18 9.5 +22 for my summer set and the stock Enkei for Winter.
