Flat tire - question on replacement

Last night i blew one of my Dunlop Z1 tires, hit a raised sewer cap on a turn, since I live in MA and temperatures are dropping i went ahead and put my winter set on last night instead of driving around with my spare

My summer tires, the dunlop z1's had approximately 8,000 miles on them, plenty of tread left (didn't drive very aggressively), my question is can i just buy 1 brand new z1 and replace the blown tire? Or do i have to have the tread worn to match the others?

the puncture is not patch-able btw.. it is wrecked

my summer set is 265 35 18 - dunlop z1's on rota torques 18x9.5
winter set is 245 40 18 blizzaks on the stock rims

With only 8k on the tire, you should be fine replacing just one tire. Sure it will have a little more traction than the other 3, but not really noticeable unless you track the car regularly. Or over the winter, keep you eyes open on ebay or wherever for someone selling a used Z1 in your size.

That stinks about what happened, Those tires (in that size) are not cheap!

I'd just replace the one and see how it drives. If you notice pull or noise just replace the other 3 as well. I would iamgine you will be fine with just 1. It might be worth checking if you have a warranty from the tire store you bought them at as well.

Tire Rack can shave a tire to match your others tread depth.

I think that you have to tread match them.

This irks me that people really believe that a couple mm will really do serious damage to the differentials. You really think that mitsubishi engineers would put that low of a tolerance of overall diameters of the wheels to wreck a diff? If you don't rotate your tires, you get worse wear from front to back tire tread depths....

iirc, the tread difference between tires had to be less than 2 mm for subarus. not sure about mitsu. but with 8k on those tires, i would definitely have tire rack shave a new tire to match the tread depth of the rest of your tires. it's worth the 25 bucks to know they match and have peace of mind imo.
