Tire replacement

I have been in a car accident. Among the things that need to be replaced is one of the tires. Since replacing 1 tire for the evo could hurt the car's transfer case, I asked the insurance to pay for all four tires. They asked me for a proof that replacing 1 tire could hurt the car. after doing my research I provided them with this article.

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete....jsp?techid=18

the article was not specific enough for them. They asked me for something more specific about the Evo and preferably written by Mitsubishi. I am having a hard time finding anything. Would anyone have an idea where I can find what I need ?

I just searched the Evo x service manual and couldnt find any requirement about having to replace all of them at once. Your best bet may be to email Mitsu USA or go to a dealership and ask the service manager for a "mitsubishi recommendation"?

I did go to a dealership and asked the service department for it. All they gave me is a copy of that same article. They said they dont have anything else to give me.

at the very least ask them to pay to have the new tire shaved to match tread depth to the others

Page 3-109 of the manual:

Since driving torque can be applied to all four wheels, the performance of the vehicle when operating in all-wheel drive is greatly affected by the condition of the tires.

It goes on to say:

When replacement of any of the tires or wheels is necessary, replace all of them.

Hope it works out for you.
