Tpms
Tpms
hi just wondering what do I need to get the TPMS working on my Evo x MR, the Aus Spec cars didnt come with them from factory... is it just a matter of buying the sensors and fitting them to the wheels the activating them at dealer or do I need other components to get it going?
I wasn't aware that the AUS spec cars didn't come with them... that's odd.
Does your HUD display that you have a TPMS/low tire pressure error? If it does just add the sensors and have the dealer program them. If it doesn't then you may be screwed. Also if they can figure out a way to turn the TPMS sensors on/off I'd like to know.

No sensor light in display it must be disabled or we didnt get the nessacary bits to make it avaliable in aus... strange.. Ill ring the dealer and ask them... i hope its just a matter of installing sensors and programming

If you're car doesn't have TPMS sensors, its likely it doesn't have the receiver for as well. Therefore, putting the sensors in your tires may not be enough. Best bet is just to run to the local stealership and talk with one of their mechanics.
yea, laws are different in different areas, like in the us its a federal law that we need tpms for some reason, probably cause we're all to fat and lazy and check it periodically
Some info I just pulled from the Lancer service manual:
GR00002900-42B.pdf
This is ONLY for vehicles with fastkey system:
- Signal from the tpms sensors is received by KOS-ECU (Keyless system)
- ABS ECU feeds vehicle speed signal to KOS ECU, ECM feeds baro pressure to KOS ECU
- KOS-ECU stores alarm status as well as transmitter ID's
- K)S-ECU is accessed from the data link connector (OBD-II port)
So, sounds like the KOS box is the key. Vehicles with Fastkey have a receiver antena module at connector C-10, it mentions a Wireless control module at C-09 for cars that have WCM (whatever that is)
