Wheel size help....Udated WITH PICS!!

I'm going to buy some Rota Grid flat black wheels. These are stock replacements.
I want that flush look. I'm only planning on a 255/40/18 for these wheels.
Can I go with 18x8.5? Or am i not gonna get that flush look?
Kind of on a budget.
Could i fit those tires on a 18x9.5 wheel or will I be stretching the tire too much?

With this wheel what offset shuld i be looking for?
Sorry for all the questions, pretty new to import wheels.

Search what other people are using.

A 255 on a 9.5 will have a little stretch, nothing crazy. Check this out: http://www.tyrestretch.com/9.5_255_3..._R18_2.jpg.php. That pic is a 255/35, sop a 255/40 will look a little less stretched since the angle of the sidewall will be less drastic.

+22 is the magic offset on an Evo X for a 9.5 wheel. Don't go narrower than 9.5. The whole reason for buying new wheels is to get more traction

Check out this link: http://rimtuck.com/thumbnails.php?ve....5&widthr=9.5&

We have plenty of affordable wheels at Vivid Racing.

so the wheels i'm looking at have a +20 offset and a 73mm bore. Does this offset make them stick out more or less? And I'm assuming the bore is ok?
Thanks for the links!! They helped a lot.

Over-stretching a tire reduces grip. It increases responsiveness, but lowers grip. That's why drifters do it.

+20 will stick out more than stock. Roughly 1/5th of an inch more. (+38 stock, -12.5 for the extra 1" of wheel width, coming out to 25.5ET)

Depending on how much you drop the car, you could possibly have rubbing issues. Going with 35's instead of 40's and/or adding negative camber can correct it.

Unless you talk to someone with the exact same set up that you are considering, its difficult to say for sure if you will have fitment problems.

8.5 + 20 will stick out 18mm more or ~3/4 inch. Just look around the site for people with 20mm spacers and stock wheels as 2mm is not much difference.

Actually 9.0 + 20 is not bad if you want to run stock tire width which has advantages like lighter weight and less rolling resistance

Do they even make the 8.5" Grid's in a useable offset for the Evo? I was just browsing on wheeldude.com and the only offset for the 8.5" I saw was +44. That would not be a good idea. A 25mm spacer would bring them down to +19 overall, or +24 with a 20mm spacer. More than I would be comfortable with. There may be offsets that WD doesnt have, though.

Say what? Offset is measured from the center. (You're thinking of backspacing.) A +20 ET wheel has a +20mm offset. So, 18mm + the 1/2" for the wheel width = more than inch further out at the outer edge.

This thread rocks.

True, but I was referring to the fact that he was debating between 8.5" or 9.5" wide wheels. The extra 1" width is going to more than make up for the slight stretch. Although, 18x9.5" +20 doesn't need stretched tires to fit, so I'd probably go with a wider tire personally.

So I've pretty much decided on the 18x9.5 with +20 offset and some 265/35/18.
Not gonna lower the car yet. Probably next year. But I figure a wider rim wil give me more options down the road.
So with this set up..... Are we looking at a little over flush or are we talking inches out?

If doing it for looks, you lower first, wheels second.

im running 18x9.5 +20 on the stock 245/40/18 tires, looks fine, its a baby stretch really a 255 will sit perfect, and a 265 will give you the wide aggressive look.

I'm ordering the 18x9.5 with 20 offset and 265/35/18 tires tomorrow. I'll keep everyone updated with pics and fitment issues (if any)

can you dropped at all...any rubbing issues or fender rolling needed for 18x9.5 +20?
