brake pads

brake pads

hey guys,i changed all my brake pads but forgot to put back the oem backing plates.Is it ok without it?

those plates keep the heat from your pads to be transmited to the brake pistons and from there to the entire system. you should also apply a termic paste that should came with the new pads, or buy it at pepboys. those plates also help to apply the force comming from the pistons equally on the pad surface. it's part of the design, would you survive without them?, i would say yes, unless you are thinking to track your car. but you are removing a supporting device from the system. just put them back as soon you have time for it.
