Alignment Question

Hey guys,

I just got new tires for my X and when I took my car to do an alignment the shop that I usually go to told me that they only have the alignment data up to 2010 while mine is a 2011. Would that be fine if I still let them do it or should I take my car to somewhere else? Thanks

All Xs are the same, alignment-wise.

Note: do yourself a favor and ask for half the spec toe-in in the rear.

Thanks. What is half the toe-in spec going to do?

Less rear toe-in will reduce the wandering that we get when there are longitudinal ridges in the pavement (which I find to be annoying with daily driving). It will also give you slightly better turn-in and much better mid-corner to exit, as the car will be able to use the AYC better and will be less likely to switch to sliding the rear. The rear tires will wear slightly less quickly, too.

No free lunch, so, yes, the car will be slightly less stable under hard breaking, but it's so worth it. You just need to be a tad more alert with less rear toe.

edit: actually, there's one other thing to watch out for with less rear toe-in. If you feed in too much power in a sharp turn, the AYC is sometimes too good (or I'm just too used to driving understeering pigs) and the car can suddenly dive in too tight. This got worse when I went to zero toe. Gotta squeeze the pedals; never stomp. Gas and brakes.
