Some dumb questions

So I got a couple questions in regards to suspension and coilovers.

I am running AMR's coilovers 10k all round. In the city I lived in the roads are fairly decent and I loved them. I am now living in a small town and the roads are horrible. Lots of heave lines and pot holes. The ride is so stiff I want to go on a shooting spree by the time I get any where.

So suspension questions:

If you run a wide offset (+15) would the leverage of the widened track make the suspension seem softer as you would lengthen the lever forces of the suspension arm?

I am running a white line rear sway bar. If I lengthen the HD end links would I take some preload off the sway bar. There fore softening the rear up a bit.

If you wanted to go with a softer DD set up. What springs would you run? 8k all round?
9k(f) 7k(r) , 10k (f) 8k(r)

Any suggestions would be great.

Hi, some thoughts below.

No. I think you are asking, would a 15 offset wheel produce enough track width change to affect the suspension such that it would feel softer over bumps? No. The wheel can affect the suspension dynamics such that turn in, grip, camber etc are slightly changed, it won't have a noticeable affect on spring stiffness.

I am running a white line rear sway bar. If I lengthen the HD end links would I take some preload off the sway bar. There fore softening the rear up a bit.

Only in turns. The sway bar is not absorbing road irregularities. Loosening up the bar will simply decrease its impact on controlling body roll in a turn.

If you wanted to go with a softer DD set up. What springs would you run? 8k all round?
9k(f) 7k(r) , 10k (f) 8k(r)

I don't know the AMR coil over well enough but a spring change sounds like the right solution. If the car handles well with 10k on all corners (see, with Robi KW we always run more spring in the rear) than simply go down in rate on all 4 corners. You could try 9k in the front and 10k rear, but I would only do that if others have posted that setup being ok with the AMR. From a rate perspective, a 1k change will be very noticeable and might be enough. If 10k is considered very very stiff, then jump to 8k. Ask the guy you are buying springs from if he'll do a deal with you if you need to change. You will also need to change your rebound and compression too (can you?) with the spring change.

Thanks for the answers.

Yes I have compression and rebound settings. They are set to full soft. And they are deflective disk style shocks.
My cave man theory on that was go a bit softer. perhaps 8k all round then when I want the performance I can crank up the shock stiffness.

i would definetly go with softer spring rates if your having an issue with the ride. If the handling isnt up to par after, you could always go a bit stiffer on your rollbars.

that too. I am at softest setting on the rollbars as well.

A softer sway bar setting will not soften your ride, it will simply permit more body roll. Presuming you do not have poly bushings, your solution is a softer spring.

Roger that!
My above comment would be to set my sway bar to a harder setting if I went with softer springs to keep a stiff feel in the twisties and still be plush on bumps.
