Need wheel advice

Hello gentlemen,

I'm currently running on the stock 18" GSR rims. They look fine, but I want some black wheels. In addition, I want something that will come closer to the edge of the body, WITHOUT needing to roll the fenders. I also don't want anything heavier than the stock wheels. I'm running on GTWORX springs with stock shocks.

I'm looking at the Enkei RPF1s, as they're lightweight, strong, black, and look pretty good. Tire Rack seems to only have them in 18 x 8.5, but I was hoping for 9.5. So, a few questions:

1. With 18 x 9.5, would the 38 offset look pretty flush with the side of the car? I ask since it sounds like the 15 offset requires fender rolling, and I see nothing in between.

2. Where are you guys buying your 18 x 9.5s and other sizes from, if not Tire Rack?

3. What would I need to mount these on the car? I read something about hubcentric rings and maybe new lugs?

My local race/suspension shop carries and recommends Team Dynamics wheels. I like the look of their Pro Race 1.2 wheel, but it's a heavy wheel. The largest 18" is a 9.0, and it weighs 24.2 lbs. That seems a bit much, even though the price is pretty good. Thoughts on this wheel?

What other wheels should I consider? Like I said, 18", black, multi-spoke design, not heavier than stock, hopefully in 9.5 size and offsets that wouldn't require rolling with my suspension. I mean, I could get my fenders rolled, but I'm trying to see if I can avoid it and still look/feel good.

Thanks!

My advice is to make these decisions in the correct order: choose the tires first, then choose wheels to make the tires happy.

ps. TDs weigh a ton; unless you cut corners and drive across the shoulder or grass, you don't need them

pps. I think that the OP was thinking that a 1" wider wheel in the stock offset would makes the wheels flush; if so, that's not correct; you need to move the outer face of the wheel out at least 20mm for the "hella-flush" look

Thank you for your input. I hear what you're saying about choosing tires first, but I'm finding stuff I like in the 265 tire width, which I believe fits 9.5 wheels, no?

I don't need the "hella flush" look, but flusher than stock would be nice.

Weight is of concern for sure, which is why Team Dynamics isn't at the top of my list.

So any other suggestions?

OK, if we're talking about 265/35s, then 18x9.5 makes perfect sense. The next question that you need to answer is whether you are willing the roll the rear fender lips. That will allow us to choose the offset. Then we'll finally get to specific wheel suggestions.

I spoke with my suspension shop about this and they could roll the rear if I needed it to be done. I'd prefer not to have to do it, but it is an option. I'm trying to figure out why it'd be needed, though, as the GTWorx springs still give me some ride height. In any case, I'm all ears

I run 255/40 Michelin PSS on 18x9.5+25 Advan RZ-DFs and GTWorx springs and a roll was not required, even with people in the car no worries. You should be OK on 265/35 but it's no guarantee, my tires are taller but narrower.

I believe 18x9.5+38 RPF1 requires a spacer in the front to clear our brake caliper. On 18x9.5+15 with 265/35 tires you will have to roll the rears.

As far as hubcentric rings some people say get them and others say don't. Personally I don't have hubcentric rings. And yes you will need new lug nuts.

Look into AME TM-02 those are light. TC105N. Volk CE28N, TE37 etc.

You'll need spacer to clear calipers with +38.

You might want to consider something else that has a better selection of offset.

OK, if the decision is 265/35/18s on 18x9.5s with a strong preference for no fender rolling, you now have everything you need to start searching through the top two stickies to see what will do what you want. That's why they are stickies.

And, yes, they need some serious weeding to remove all the OT chit-chat. It's on my list of things to do to annoy people who post random pictures of their car in tech forums. tee hee

9.5 with 265 on gtworx without rolling you want to be in the +22 to +25 area.

Damn man, I looked up your suggestions and they are all gorgeous! Pricey, yes, but damn they look sharp! You gave me some stuff to think about for sure.

Waking up my thread to get a final sanity check. I'm pretty set on ordering a set of black RPF1s in 18x9.5 with 15mm offset fro Oakos. I'm thinking of putting on a set of Dunlop Direzza ZII in 265/35R18 on them. If I did my reading, I'll need to roll my rear fenders a bit since I'm running GTWorks springs.

Anyone see any issue with this setup?
