$600 is definitely excessive for springs and an alignment. Three hours of labor plus an alignment is the highest I'd consider fair, so $400.

Book time is 6 hours WITHOUT doing an alignment. Most dealerships are over $100 an hour here. You may get a cheaper rate at a gas station/general repair shop but trusting them with performance work is a gamble in my opinion. So I would say that while the price you were quoted is not a deal, it is certainly fair.

I can do a set of springs in 2 hours on my garage floor with hand tools. No professional shop with a lift and air tools should spend anywhere near 6 hours on a set of springs.

So can I, but the standard way to bill is by dealer book time.

I originally did my springs myself with a friend. It's pretty simple to do and I'm not very inclined.

I later had a shop install my coilovers, set them up and do alignment for about $385. It was a well known performance shop in the area that specializes in suspension set up/alignments so their prices are at a premium.

Time and space permitting, you should consider trying it yourself and save some money and getting an alignment somewhere. The only odd tool you need is a spring compressor and you can rent those.
