DD Brake Rotor Advice
DD Brake Rotor Advice
Preface: I have a separate set of track rotors and pads. These are only going to be used on the street for DD duties.
My pads & rotors are wearing low so I'm in the market to replace them for DD usage only. I will probably switch from stock MR 2 piece to 1 piece in the front for DD duties.
The rear rotors will be replaced with Raybestos AT Rotors (blanks). Can't beat them for $38 a pop from a reputable brake manufacturer.
The front rotors will either be Centric 125 series High Carbon Rotors or (please don't hate me) PowerStop JBR1317XPR Drilled / Slotted Rotors. Let me say that I've always been against the idea of drilled rotors as they'll crack from high temp (track) use. However, these are going to be only used for DD duty.
The funny thing is that the PowerStop rotors are cheaper than the Centric rotors. I'm wondering what people think about this. Is it possible that PowerStop uses cheaper, low quality materials for their rotors? I've never really heard about this company so any advice would be helpful.
For reference, the Centrics are $4 more expensive for the pair and the Raybestos are $12 more expensive for the pair of fronts.
If it matters, I'll mate them with either Porterfield R4-S or Racing Brake ET900 pads.

I think it doesn't really matter either way unless you drive very aggressively on the streets. If it were me, I would use the non drilled rotors though, so if I cracked a rotor at the track I would have a spare set (your DD rotors) and not ruin your day...
