Getting New Tires - Alignment/Camber Question
Getting New Tires - Alignment/Camber Question
Good Morning
I've taken my mr to the track twice. I only have about 7000 miles on the stock Advans, and the track has torn them up considerably. Most of the wear is on the outside of each tire which is expected.
I'm ordering new tires soon, probably the RE-11, R-S3's or Pilot Super Sports, when I have them mounted, should I have the shop change my current alignment or camber set up to better suit my daily driving + track use so I don't tear the new tires up as quickly and get a more even wear
Thanks

Flip the front bolts (to get -2*) camber.
Set rear camber to about 2/3 to 3/4 of the front.
Zero the front toe.
Run the minimum spec rear toe (about .04 per side).
If you have someone else do the work, be clear that the front camber bolts are "remove-flip-and-reinstall" not "rotate-in-place."

Absolutely. In fact, doing things like shooting all of the alignment points with PB'laster a day or two before taking the car for the alignment can help the tech and cause you to get a better alignment because the eccentrics won't all be stuck. If you flip the front camber bolts yourself, removed the wheel, loosen the lower bolt, remove the upper bolt, push on the upper half of the rotor to rotate the knuckle around the lower bolt a little, put upper bolt back in upside down. But do this the day of or day before the alignment because flipping the bolt will throw off the toe (by a lot).
