Swift Springs

So when I purchased my FE, I got lucky because the previous owner was so meticulous and OCD the car was in perfect condition w/ low miles... AND stock (This factor was extremely important to me). The only thing he did was purchase Swift Springs.

Now fast forward through time and I’m the rightful owner of this beauty. I’m also purchasing some necessary mods and bolt-ons, and because I need to know everything that’s been done to this car, I go through all his Evo purchase receipts (OCD). I find the one for springs, and discover that they are the Swift Sport Springs Mach for Nissan GT-R 2015+. I was a little curious as to why he didn’t just buy the Swift Spec-R Sport Springs for the Evo X 2008-2015.

I’m not sure why I get bugged by these types of things, but just knowing that the springs I have were made with the Nissan GT-R in mind and not the Evo X really bugs me lol. So I’m about to purchase a set of the Swift Springs for the Evo X... but then I find out that there’s a price difference... and it seems like the springs he got are more expensive. Now I do know that it’s not always indicative of anything, but typically higher quality items tend to be higher priced.

Lol can anyone chime in with anything? should I buy the Spec-R springs? Even if it means it’ll be a slight “downgrade”?

Are you sure he didn't also have a GT-R and just filed the receipt in the wrong folder? The GT-R springs are a lot stiffer than the Evo X rates but it's a bigger/heavier car so that makes sense. I also somewhat doubt that the factory shocks/struts have the same diameter springs so I can't imagine the GT-R springs fitting. It might be worth the time to jack a corner up, pull a wheel off, and see if you can find a part number on a spring. Also, more expensive doesn't necessarily mean better. Smaller volume could account for the price difference or the cost of R&D on a GR-R being higher. I would suggest considering a coilover setup if you want to spend money on modifying the suspension more. Quite frankly, if you order another set of Swift springs you may just end up exactly where you started!

Hmm, you know I highly doubt that it would’ve been a perfect fit spec wise between the 2 cars so that’s why I just have this confused look on my face... but I have the original box it came in with the OEM springs... and the labeling on that box clearly states the matching part number and how it’s made for the Nissan.... weird...But in the case that it wasn’t a misfile or human error of any kind... and the springs that are on my car truly are the Swift speed springs... I checked out the specs and the spec R has a lower drop then the ones that I currently have. That’s really the only reason why I would even want to make another purchase of springs.

But yea I figure I’m gonna just let this one sit, as I have plenty of other more important purchases to be made. I just thought it was a weird situation.

From: Tx,
I don't think you have a gtr spring, it will not fit. It's just a mistake. call the previous owner but how's the car handle and the ride height.

I personally love my Swifts. I've driven and been in countless cars with various other springs/coils and from a daily comfort and ride standpoint, the Swifts are amazing.

GTR springs probably more expensive because of the GTR tax LOL like the Evo tax, but worse.
