The basic idea is to keep things civil here. It seems like we get posts reported where a user either makes a statement or asks a question that other people disagree with so the solution is everyone decides to light into the person making the thread into 10 pages long of junk. So to specifically answer your question: taunting for an argument, cursing, name calling, or anything concerned by mod staff as hostile well be considered as flaming.

is there any way to get the points removed I.E. a probation period?? if you are going to punish people, you should have a way for them to redeem themselves. that would be fair. vendors included. if you are going to punish the people, you have to punish the vendors as well. while some may get a time out, others are just going to get banned?? who will be the deciding factor?? one admin may be more leaniant than another. judged by 12 or carried by 6?? has some flaws, but it may keep certain vendors in "check".

That's why I set the perm ban at 50 points. There is plenty of room for redemption. You just can't break a rule 3 times over and then figure out maybe that action isn't good. Everyone has to be aware of what they are doing. Trust me, I'm sure anyone that's breaking a rule 99% of time knows that they are breaking a rule.

This point system does apply to vendors as well. Everyone is equal. The best part about the point system is it gives everyone a clear idea of what could happen if you break the rules. As the points are accumulated, the system is set to issue out the ban automatically. Also points can not be removed by anyone except me.

i would hope it is to remain fair for all. vendors included. i have seen a certain vendor on this forum talk trash to all of us and not get a time out. then he says he is done with this site and bad mouths you(admins) guys when you put him in check. i hope it doesnt get into being a "favored" points spread...

i enjoy this site and it can be very useful at times, however to find the real info, you have to read through 9 pages of junk. four pages of that junk is off topic
anyways...

thanks spt,

.02 again.

This is was the primary reason for this system. With our old system it was hard to keep track who did what and how many times. What I'm trying to accomplish here is to establish a history of violations so there isn't confusion amongst our mod staff or the user recieveing the points.

I do hear what you are saying about the favoritism and I think by having this system we can see when someone gets punished for causing a violation. It will be open to the public.

I appreciate your input and concerns. Nothing makes me happier then to see a user expressing their input to help make this place better. It really shows that you care. In the end we have to realize that this is a community and the more people that really care about the community the better it will be.

what about style posts in someone else's thread?

I'm asking because I think I just got a post deleted in a thread about paint costs and I posted a question asking about how much it would cost to re-clear coat a CF hood...

What was the subject of the main thread? Offtopic posts within a thread will be concidered a violation. Meaning if the thread is about someone's paint job, asking them how much isn't concidered offtopic. If you posted asking the person how they were doing and what they did on Saturday is concidered off topic.

The thread was asking how much an Evo style grill would cost to paint and I posted a question on the cost of re-clear coating a cf hood...i mean it's still paint related
