On Memorial Day...

I copied the following from the Readers' View of my local newspaper. It was written by a 73 year old veteran. I thought is was appropriate to share on Memorial Day. Even if you don't agree with the politics of a particular conflict, please take a moment to honor those (some didn't agree either) who died in the service of our country. Have a fun and safe Memorial Day!

Bob.

Honor the U.S. men and women who never made it back.

"Where are these farm boys, city boys, husbands, fathers, brothers, sisters, cousins, uncles and grandfathers who never made it back home?

Great thread.

Got a dad in the US Army and sister in Marines. Rest in peace to all the soldiers who fought for the rest of us here.

Indeed. My thoughts are with those serving and the families of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

Appreciation for those in the uniformed services does not go unnoticed. I appreciate my brothers and sisters in arms especially when they have been there for me and I will always be there for them.

Great thread =D

Remember though, every day of the year is a great day to appreciate the brave men and women who have put it all on the line for our country, and remember those who gave all. A handshake, a beer, a breakfast, a thank you. . They've earned it, take a few seconds or a few dollars and show thanks.

On that note last night I taped up my next care pack to head off to an EVOM member serving in Iraq. Everyone should take a little bit of time to put one of those together.

Brian, thanks for sending a care package to deployed members, I know when ever I got one I always felt better.

These figures are very humbling. My Grandpa is a WWII vet and whenever I see these kind of casulty figures my heart just sinks. Can't imagine what that was like.

Wow RIP to all those who lost everything while serving. Those numbers are pretty extreme, especially the fact that they never made it home...

Thank you to all those aswell who are serving in any of the armed forces.

I'm a six year Army vet, and currently a DoD civilian with two deployments to Iraq under my belt. I continue to serve my country with pride. But my accolades don't compare with those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Guarantee my will be flying!

Where were you at? Your unit sounds incredibly familiar. I was one of the EOD guys for C Co 4/73 Cav 82nd AB in Farah.

On topic: Just saw this thread. We appreciate your support everyone.
