black smoke ???

black smoke ???

i have been told by a friend that when i am idle and i accelerate whether i get on it or not, i have some black smoke shooting out my booty! i have a full 3" exhaust, no cat.... any ideas as to why or if it is something to really worry about... my oil change is coming up here in about 500 miles but i dont think thats the problem... any ideas or questions to help me pinpoint this would be appreciated fellas... TIA... ric

The car runs very rich from the factory, that's unburnt fuel. Since you no longer have a cat to burn most of that unburnt fuel, it comes out the exaust. Nothing to worry about.

^yeah, plus most turbo cars will spurt a little smoke every now and then anyway, just the nature of the beast

Mine has the smoke and as far as I know it is normal. A flash will make sure you are running safe a/f ratios. No need to worry, as long as it is black smoke it is just extra fuel from the car running rich.

It'll smoke, and pop a lot... dynoed mine yesterday with just a full catless tbe, and EVERY time they let off the gas it popped and it'd shoot smoke all the way through... gotsta get me a tune too

So its ok for the Evo to blow lack smoke every time i step on it?

I plan to get a flash this summer, and this flash will take care of the black cloud of smoke.
