I'd say make sure you practice ALOT before you try to drive this if you have no idea how stick-shift even works let alone never tried it. How perfect can this car be for you if you can't even drive it?

you seriously should get a beater car that is a stick drive it around for a month or so then think about a real sports car because the Evo is slightly jerky even for someone who knows how to drive let alone a rookie on a stick. get an old honda or subie and learn on that cause Evo clutches are expensive.

Also if your parents wont let you ride quads or dirt bikes why the hell would they let you drive a 150+ MPH race car? they don't seem very consistent there...

which raises another question if you are old enough to get an Evo why does your parents opinion matter?

You don't shift at redline all the time, just when ur racing really.

During normal driving, you usually shift between 3k-4k rpm.

well, ive driven auto all my life and im 22. just recently started practicing to drive standard on my friends truck. so im doing pretty good. it is pretty tricky, i cant get used to shifting into 1st gear, every other gear is easy but its that first one, but after some more practice ill be good. im also gonna buy a 2002 ford focus LX for 4000 with no interest from a body shop who buys wrecks and fixes them, so its perfect for ****ing up.

I agree. EVO has a ****ty stock clutch, hard-to-get-into-gear-unless-you-double-clutch tranny (with factory tranny oil), that stupid clutch restrictor, hydraulic clutch (not as easy to feel what's going on as cable clutch) and it has alot of HP. I would say all of these things make it hard to learn how to drive stick in an EVO.

*Scratching head wondering if this guy is for real*

it's only hard to shift untill you get used to it, I know my buddy who bought a Scion tc and couldn't even pull out of the dealer parking lot but after a week of practicing he learned the tricks to it

Just learn the basics from someone who knows it and practice. Like keep it on the right rpm don't redline, etc etc. All you can really do is go in the car and work at it. Your friends and the people here can tell you what to do but your feet won't do that magic right away.

understand that this potentially can take years, buy a beater and get good, and then get better, and then get great. then........ buy an evo. otherwise you will regret it. every single clutch on every single car is different. trucks shift way different than cars, small cars different from big, and race cars different than anything else you have driven. buy the junker and consider it foreplay. cause once you get in a fun car, and know how to drive it perfectly it is better than what foreplay leads to.............. no not napping.
