EVO 400FQ (or somethin like that)

just saw it today in some euro car mag. mitsubishi's 400hp evo. 0-62 in 3.6. thats nuts. 200hp per litre! they made 100 of them (none for us) also the internals are mostly HKS with a garrett turbo. i forget what size. oh you can shut the wastegate from in the car. apparently it sounds like a gatling gun.

Yup. That's the Evo 8 FQ-400. Like all the FQ series cars, it's not factory built...it's built up by Ralliart in the UK starting with a stock Evo 8 GSR. There's a nice write-up in the latest issue of CAR magazine.

BTW, does anyone know where to get those cool FQ-400 mirrors and front chin spolier?

the mirrors are ralliart ones and they're made for RHD vehicles. you can get them from japanparts.com . The lip appears to be the Do-luck which is special order also.

Thanks! In the article, they mentioned that they were Ralliart parts. But when I checked the Ralliart UK website, there was no sign of them.

EDIT: I just checked Japanparts.com. OUCH! $540 a pair!

fq400 only has 315 hp. Maybe I was looking at the wrong one. They did a comparison test with that on Top Gear. it was racing against the STI Wr-1.

I was checking out the Dupont registry sports car comparison issue, they included the Evo Mr FQ (?) can't remember which one, thought is was 340 or 400, anyway, reviewer said it would hang with the Porshe Carrera GT. BTW, no STI . I guess our Evos' an exotic super car.

Not true. The FQ-400 puts out 400hp and 380lbs/ft. The engine is built by Flow Race Engines (they build Mitsu's WRC engines) with HKS con-rods, forged pistons, bigger injectors, stronger headstuds, and an Alcon flywheel and clutch. It also runs a Motec ECU.

Here's a link for more info: http://www.grosvenorgarage.co.uk/ralli_art.htm

There are also FQ-300, 320, and 340 models available in the UK. Here's a link for more info: http://www.mitsubishi-cars.co.uk/evolution/range.asp

Top Gear also reviewed the UKDM MR. The FQ-320 to be exact. I wanna see them review this monster. I have a feeling it can match the McMerc or the Zonda on their power laps board.

It already did, it was right with the Gallarado but the MB and Zonda are just too much. Now the FQ400 would be a different story
