No secondary rev limit on the MR

After breaking in my car I tried reving it past 5 k while stationary.... The conculsion is that there is no secondary rev limit as described by magazines. At least in my car there isn't.

Try depressing the clutch pedal to the floor and then floor the gas pedal. The engine will bounce off the 5k mark. The 5k rev limiter is there, it even states it in the owners manual for reference.

No, when stationary or below certain speeds (probably < 5 mph). If you couldn't run the car through first, a lot of folks would scream bloody murder.

It is only when the car is stationary and the clutch pedal is fully depressed... that is the ONLY time

Cool. Thanks for the info. Is this rev limiter only on the MR? Would my '03 Evo have it?

i found that you can initially rev the engine beyond the 5k limit, but if you stand on the throttle the limiter kicks in. don't know if i would want to use it as launch control though, as it doesn't sound smooth. i was in a rush and could really tell if it was building boost.

Hey EFIxMR, I think there might be an easy way to remove the 5k launch limiter on MR's but I need you to try this on your car & see if it works. Try unplugging the clutch switch on your car & see if it works. It should be easy to find, it should be right behind the clutch pedal arm. Let us know what you find. By the way if you disconnect the switch you can start your car without pressing the clutch.
