Shifting Gears

I just bought my Lancer a couple of weeks ago and even though its all stock I still wanna feel its potential. If Im on the track or racing any one on the street, whats the best way to go thru my gears( what RPMs should I be hittin thru each gear)?

Thanks

First, second, third and then fourth. I doubt you'll make fifth in the quarter mile.

Try running a search or just looking through this forum. The question was asked and answered a week or so ago.

Shift where you get peak power (5500) or slightly higher so during the shift you end up slightly higher in the next gear. If you don't want to make the long hike to 55k, go to 4250 with max torque. Run a search and you'll find all sorts of handy blurbs just like that as well as drag launching tips.

for max speed....shift at redline. your max power comes at 5500 rpm. it starts to fall of after that, but keep accellerating to 6000 to keep shifts in powerband. this is true of any car. to keep your engine in the powerband you should shift at redline.
