Talking Just got a MR two days ago.....

wild car, enjoy every second behind the wheel.
i have a couple questions though,

I left the dealer w/ 10 miles on the car, i HAVE been treating it like platinum since i got it... i havent even gone over 5k rpm also. im thinkin 1000-3000 miles till i can launch this rocket? any input?

also, once im ready to go get aftermarket parts, whats a *high quality* company to go to... i have usually stuck with the same brand on previous cars, but this car is different. Im thinking all HKS... good choice for an evo?
thanks all =)

Congrats on the new car. You could start driving it like it's meant to be driven after 600-1000 miles. You should vary the rpm as much as possible to seat the piston rings prperly. Take it easy with the brakes for the first 500 miles to break it in properly.

I recommend Vishnu for aftermarket parts because they are proven by myself and many others (check out this month's Turbo magazine and past issues of SCC).

Take care of your car and she will give you years of pure driving enjoyment.

welcome!!! i would highly reccomend HKS or Greddy... Perrin also makes awesome products for the few that HKS and Greddy don't make (radiator hoses, cat delete, fuel rail, etc)...

when i was on the highway today i did about 300 miles one trip, couple short stops too,
but i was keeping the speed range from 60-80 the whole time, constantly changing...
brakes do whine a bit just before i come to a complete stop, i have been very nice to them though, i figured its the glaze.

this car is sick though, much better then i anticipated. im in love!

whats some good snow tires? snow is coming here soon, i cant wait.
yokohama makes some snow tires too. good pick?

I personally have Nokian WR tires and they are excellent for snowy conditions but are quite grippy in dry conditions as well. I have heard good things about Continental also.

Welcome

Congrats on scoring an MR! Wish I had the coin for it.

The manual on my 05 Evo 8 says break in is at 500 miles. I am guessing the MR is the same.

My brakes also squeal during low speed stops. Sometimes, not always. I had the dealer check out the brakes and all was in order. The brake noise seems to be a common problem with all Evos.
