ok to put exhaust for first engine mod?

Do the exhaust. It was the first mod I did, the week I bought my 0-Z in August. Way worth it. While you're @ it, get the RRM test pipe and have 'em both installed @ the same time. BIG difference!

Yeah, but just look how you turned out...

Seriously though, if you put on a test pipe, make sure to keep you cat for your emissions test. They bolt on and off.

Yeah, I'd go with a SRI intake or just a plain ole' K&N filter. Like Hobie meantioned earlier, the gains are not all that different between the SRI and the CAI.

I'd personally go with the SRI then the exhaust.

Yep! elusive and his gf are next! Just proves the maxim, once you start, you just can't stop...

Test pipe and exhaust as first mods? Lawdy...you'll definitely lose your butt on torque but you'll be loud and free-flowin' alright. Just need to reiterate the fact that all that free flow though isn't going to help you unless you can push out(or in the case of gas in a tube, stick to the sides) enough exhaust gasses. You need your back pressure, especially in NA cars unless you're running something that is getting more air out of the block faster (i.e. camshaft, intake).
