How much did you get your '05 GSR for?

HI everyone, I am fairly new to the board and I just had a few questions:

My RSX died on me and I am in the market for a new car. Of course, the '05 EVO8 GSR would be ideal. I know the MSRP is about 30-31k. I wanted to negotiate this down a little bit, as would anyone.

What are people walking away from the dealership with as far as prices go? I imagine they could be talked down about 1-2k bringing the price to high 20s. Is this what most people are getting? I would like as much leverage to talk down the price as possible.

Thanks!

just to let you know, nobody in the los angeles area even lowered the price one bit, every mitsu dealer i went to stood pretty hard on prices, good luck trying to talk any salesmen into lowering the price on an evo, its difficult.

I think they mean invoice, as in what it supposedly cost the dealer. Another words its hundreds less than MSRP. It all depends on how many cars your local dealership is getting and what the demand is for the car at the time (generally speaking of course). If you know someone that works at a dealership that makes it alot easier sometimes to get a good deal.

My local dealership is getting two and one of them already has a deposit. They are asking MSRP for the other. I haven't even attempted to try to talk them down, but I am trying to get a better APR. Sometimes you can ask them for other assistance like giving you a few hundred more for your trade in.

Also, at the end of the month it is sometimes easier to get a better deal. Same goes for the end of the year and after Christmas, since people are paying off shopping bills and the car buying is typicall slower in extreme cold/damp weather.

Its going to be a war b/c the new 2005 EVOs are hot. Good luck to all of us!

Jesse

One Guy on here I spoke to on here got his for about 400 over invoice for in PA. It had the SSL package. I think Tax and tags it was 33.5K total. They raised the invoice 1K on the 05s.

Sorry to ask, could people be more specific with their answers? Like.... POST the ACTUAL amount you paid? I keep getting different invoice prices from dealers. I am looking to walk away with an EVO8 after tax/title/blah for about 28-28500. Is this possible?

There's your first mistake - relying on the dealer to tell you the invoice price. That's like emailing a Nigerian for investment advice. Do your own research and you are less likely to get ripped off.

And what I paid out the door doesn't mean much when the invoice price was recently raised and sales tax rates vary throughout CA. However, if you know that most people in your area are paying X over invoice, then you can calculate everything out yourself.

Dismissed.

Yes, thats the "factory invoice" but thats just a number they tell you. They wouldn't tell you the real amount they get them for otherwise you would aim for that number. The "invoice" that everyone is talking about is a number below MSRP that makes you think you are getting a good deal. Its a pretty common sales tactic.
