seat belt chime

Well I would like to say hello, I am new to this forum. Just bought a blue evo and very happy with it.
Ok I'll get to the point.
Everyone that drives an evo or any other car for that matter know that the seat belt chime is annoying. I know in most cars you can get rid of it by clicking the seat belt in ten times or so. I check the manual but no dice. Also tried to search be for posting nothing came up.
hope you guys can help.
thanks
Luis

Quote from the other thread:
well ok, it's like we're all children throwing sand at each other in a sandbox. There is a wire under the seat that you can cut, however.... when doing that, your seatbelt light remains lit, and a code is thrown in the computer, its a manditory failsafe installed by ALL vehicle manufactureres. no way around it. and just to update this, if your seatbelt relay is removed or altered, a dealership MAY not work on the car and could prohibit the vehicle to leave a dealership or garage to be back on the road until it's fixed. I worked for Mitsu for 1 1/2 yrs. ok so we are all calm now? I wouldn't advise the mod, I know it is annoying, the one thing I could advise is looking into an 04' chime (door/seatbelt indicator appliance) and change it out, as it is a soft bing noise rather than a buzzer.

The soft binging makes it easier to concentrate on the voices in your head.

Ok, this guy worked at Mitsu for 1 1/2 years and he says to cut the wire under the seat. WRONG, there's a wire harness. Simply unplug it and don't cut it!

He was probably a Porter not a mechanic.

Oh ya, i reread the guy's quote, the no seatbelt light does not pop up when you unplug the harness, and i see no SES light either. Well, i only unplug mine when i use my harnesses for track days, then i just plug it back in on the street.
