RA Cai on the cheap, Advice?

Hi Mitsu nuts, my first post!
Been diggings your forums for a while looking for a car, and it talked me into getting a Ralliart. I LOVE it. Thunder grey 04.

I am looking forward to some modding w/o killing the warranty. I think i want to start with a cai, but really .dont want to spend the 250 for a brand name one.

I have seen the *ahem* lil lancers with a 2.0l buying all kinds of cais on ebay cheap, and i cant find them anywhere for the 2.4l powerplants we run.

Any help would be appreciated.

The air sensor is completely different. None out on Ebay yet, but probably will be some out before too long.

Your best (cheapest) route would be to build a simple SRI. You need a spare stock airbox to cut up and a cone cotton gauze filter.

I have an extra airbox, PM me if you want to make a deal on it.

this is what i did first got on ebay and bought a cai for a 04dodge hemi you could prolly buy a sr but not sure . please dont get confused im making a sr intake. Then take the stock one off and put the sr on and find the best fitment. then mark a one and one quarter hole on the pipe and cut it out ( make sure that the sensor will make it to the hole ) best spot would be as close to the filter as possible. then put it al together and there you go your oun hand made sr

ps i cut about 2 inches off the end where the filter goes

Welcome to the Board! try www.roadracemotorsports.com. i have their SRI and love it. i would have gone CAI but it tends to flood here with no warning so i stayed away from it. they have great prices and Fantastic customer service!

Good Luck!

I like the SRI... personally wouldn't get the CAI because of puddles and my tendency to see them at the last minute.. and i'm not talking small puddles.. i'm talking puddles with a shallow and a deep end... But yea Welcome to the world of Lancers!
