New 05 RS Owner
Hi,
I just wanted to introduce myself. My name's Russell and I have been browsing evom.net since the middle of 2003. I never joined until I actually bought an EVO though. I didnt want to post until I could actually talk about MY EVO! I traded in a 2001 Mustang Cobra for the RS. I test drove the STI, regular EVO 8 "GSR", and finally the RS. Man, I was so shocked the first time I drove an EVO. I thought my Cobra handled well, but boy was I wrong. I honestly felt as if I were driving a Model T when behind the wheel of the Cobra after just barely test driving the GSR. I really wasnt too impressed with the STI though. While being a damn good car for the $ it just didnt have that "Evo Edge" if you know what I am talking about. I actually drove my RS for the first time the night I bought it. Five miles was all it took to tell me that this was not an average EVO. Those who have a RS know what I mean.
I am in the DFW, TX (Fort Worth) area and will be meeting up with the local Evo club to trade ideas soon I hope. I have experience with the 1g DSM's so I know my way around a 4G63 pretty well. I was really hardcore into the Mustang Forums, and the latest and greatest suspension set ups for those antiquated monsters. I hope to be able to share my experiences with this car with everyone on this forum. I have learned so much from here, the least I could do would be to share any info I can come up with.
I am including some pictures of my RS in case anyones interested in seeing it.
Thanks!

i never realized till now but the car looks so naked w/o the wing and antenna and wiper. nice car though. and welcome. I did the same thing w/ the forums, i browsed for a couple of years before buying an evo. i didn't want to join evom until i had an evo. i didn't want to feel like a poseur. well actually i joind when i was trying to buy an evo. i actually bought mine from someone who was working as a salesman who is here. it was better to buy from cali and ship to hawaii than buy in hawaii.
Welcome Aboard!
Russell,
Welcome to the EVO community! Great choice.... (I've got a white 2004 RS also.....)
Yeah, they're great cars, although as you probably know, they can be a money pit once you start to mod...ouch!
I live in San Antonio and will be up near your area on March 20th for a custom tune for my XEDE and current mods.
Have fun!

hey if your interested, tonight in arlington we have a HUGE car meet. there are usually a few of us evo guys down there. specifically myself, MONKEY, bryans2k, blown income, and a few others will be there. it is located off of 20 and the matlock exit. go north on matlock about 1/2 mile. it will be on your right side. cars start showing up at 8 and will be there until 11-12ish. look for me, i have a white GSR with a harness bar and harnesses. it has tinted windows as well. i am a white dude with black colored hair if you do decide to show up, look for me!!
blown income also has a white GSR, his is easy to pick out because of the large FMIC>
also, check out the south forum here on evom. we post all the local happenings there. also, take a look in the turbo trix forum. there is another dyno weekend where mark will be down here. if you want to compare a bone stock evo vs a bone stock evo with a tune, i'll give you a ride... BIG difference. so yeah, welcome, and sign up with NTEC, well worth the small fee and we have a blast!
