Where to buy (cheapest) 05 EVO

Well I'm finally getting ready to buy an EVO, after a few years of lingering on the forums and just reading about what everyone else is doing to thier car, now it's my turn to join the fun.

I want an 05 EVO VIII with Sun, sound and leather package, in White, but may consider the Electric Blue after I see it.

Can you guys please tell me what you paid and give me the Dealer's info?

I'm willing to drive, especially if it's South, even Florida would be considered. I'm in North NJ just for reference.

Thanks

i'm sort of in a similar boat but just not as knowledgeable as you.
i tried finding out whether there were differences between 05's and 04's and couldn't find anything.

Is there a reason you want an 05 and not a leftover 04?

I read that an ok price for an EVO RS is 30k out the door. Since the RS is 2k less than the VIII then maybe 32-33k?

05s are faster than the 04s by a bit... due to a few things, like the 10.5 hotside

I think it's the outlet side of the turbo, yeah, but I'm not 100% sure either, I believe the 04 and olders are like 9.8cm, and the new one's are 10.5cm... I think there's a few more things giving them that extra bit of power too... Nothing a few mods on an 03 or 04 can't fix, and you can buy a 10.5 hotside for a couple hundred, I think... And there's the addition of the SSL package, whatever year they added that

05 got ACD and no HID without sun and sound package. No spray intercooler.

sorry to sound really stupid.
What's SSL and what's ACD?

What my main concern is whether there are any considerable differences...enough to warrant purchasing an 05 over an 04.

For example, I heard that the 05 STI have many changes over an 04 sti...tranny stuff among other things. So if one were in the market to purchase one, they would def go for an 05 over a left-over 04.

SSL = Sun, Sound & Leather package, has, sunroof, leather, subwoofer & HID's

ACD = Active Center Differential, better traction with selective switch for different road conditions, snow/gravel/Tarmac

These options and the larger exhaust side makes me want an 05, plus I plan on keeping it for just about ever and a newer year is peferable.

I can probably get you one for a couple hundred over invoice. Thats what I paid. But you'd have to drive to TX to get it. Last I checked, my sales guy had white, blue, black and silver available with the SSL package. PM if interested.

Check ebay. I bought mine from Augusta Mitsubishi in '03 from eBay for cost! They didn't even want them on the lot, he offered me as many as I wanted at that price. Looking back, I missed an opportunity. Good luck.

Unless you can pick up an '05 VIII for close to invoice now (or unless you're really desparate to purchase) I'd wait 'til the fall when the IX comes out....that way you can bargain really hard on a leftover, new VIII.
