newbie, have a few q's
newbie, have a few q's
Hey guys, new to the forums. I had a 2001 Camaro SS, midnight blue, 6 speed with some bolt on mods capable of a 12.9 second quarter mile. I sold the car a week ago because of a new baby in the family. I need a car that has 4 doors, can hold atleast one baby seat in the back if needed (i have a durango for the baby) and can be driven year around ( the LS1 SS was stored in winters ) so I have chosen a Mitsu EVO to accomplish all that and stil have performance.
I have a few questions to ask, i know, i know, search... but this is a really specific scenario that i dont think can be answered through search.
I have 21,000 to put down on an EVO. My plan has been to buy a used one. I have been searching for about 3 weeks now and am still looking.
Would it be more worthwhile to spend 8, 9,000 dollars and buy a new '05 and take the depreciation hit when i drive it out of the dealer, or buy a used '03 for like 21-24?
one arguement is that down the road when i go to sell it, i will get more money for the '05 because its newer AND because its a true GSR EVO with the front limited slip diff and the ACD.
the other choice is to buy a "new" 2003 car which has never been titled or registered and has 27 miles on it. asking price is 25,9. over the phone they came down to 25,000, and i think when i go to the dealership they will give it to me for 24,500 if not 24 even.
how important are the front limited slip and the ACD? my use is going to be street driving, back and forth to work and occasional trips. Mods will be limited to intake exhaust ecu flash, and thats about it.
thanks and nice to meet you guys.

If you're only going to be street driving mainly then go with the '03 the limited slip and such are only necesary for autox'ers or road racers. The '03's look exactely like the '05s however the '05 is much smoother in nature and can hold a bit more power potential right outta the box due to the larger hotside housing of the turbo. (You can however add both these things to an '03 easily). I would say save the extra money for mods, food, vacation errr whatever and get the '03. Hope it helps any!
thanks for the replies. ill be flying down there tomorrow.
its got the small wing, the non CF one. Does the CF bolt right up to the holes for the standard wing? id like to either delete the wing all together (which is what ill do at first) and then bolt on a CF wing.
