Car Illiterate newbie here

Hey I just got my 03' OZ last week, and stupidly forgot to bargain with them into throwing free wheel locks for me. So now I have a bit of a dilemma. I don't know if I should go to the dealership and get the wheel locks put in for like $65 CND, or get cheaper ones else where and do it myself. If I was to go out and get some a do it myself, how do I know what kind to get and all that technical bable hehe. Anyways if anyone can help I'd greatly appreciate it!

i'm pretty sure lug nuts are just lug nuts. so theoretically, wheel locks should just be wheel locks. i would definitely buy them some where cheaper.

No, they're not. They have differents threads and pitches. Getting them outside the dealership will be far cheaper most likely and they'll be hopefully a little more difficult to steal (though if someone really wants your wheels they're probably going to get them regardless.

EDIT: Derp. Almost forgot. Welcome to the forums and congrats on the new car.

I've recently purchased some cause I did the same thing, i saw a set at pep boys for $25, Im sure you could find them somewhere else cheaper or at least you know you can get them there. I dont remember the #s for them, but there is usually a book or something near there to tell you what kind you need for your car... and yes, they are quite easy to install...
Jack up car...
remove 1 lug...
replace with 1 locking lug...
drop car and repeat!

Hope this helps some!

Well I only have one more problem, I live in Canada and the Lancer has only been available here since september, so I can't seem to find any books or anything that tell me size I need and stuff. I tried going to a general store and asking them but their books don't even say anything about mitisubishi cars let alone the 2003 lancer. Any suggestions?

Your manual. It came with the car. It includes ALL specs on your car.

I got my wheel locks came with the new lug nuts i bought, (got new rims and old lugs didnt fit), they were like 45 bucks (sears). ANyhow, if you end up getting them, dont lose the adapter, my dad tells me horror stories about those kinda people. not cute.
