Spoke to my friend in japan, he told me that japs are making the evo VIII. So my question is : Are we buying the EVO VII or wait for EVO VIII to come in our shores???

My humble opinion? (And it's just that...) The Evo that comes to the US will not have a number tacked on to it's name. If anything, it might be the "Evolution America" or something, but most likely just "Evolution". I think they will do this because the previous six or seven versions were never sold here, thus no real need for the differentiation. Also, there is likely to be some spec differences between a US car and the full-blooded Evo VII or VIII, so they may not want to use the same name.

Just a thought, something to chew on...

Isn't the Evo VIII rumored to be using a GDI engine? That would be a huge change from the current engine....

 

My personal opinion is that the Evo will be watered down even more with the 8 as it's getting further and further away from it's rally-roots. Mitsu made a more "streetcar" like version out of the 7 and I think that the trend will continue with the 8. My tip is, probably 6-speed, and yes GDI, but also more luxury and weight that comes with it. The more watered down the car is, the more it has mass-market appeal and the more money Mitsu will make, simple.

 

I am not sure I would have the patients to wait for an EVO VIII. It's hard enough having to wait an entire year already just for the VII. Besides, I have only heard confirmed reports about the VII and havent heard of an VIII until just 10 minutes ago when i found this forum
I just hope that if there is an VIII it either comes out first (rather than there being a VII) or that it comes out after a long enough period of time after the VII so that I dont have to question whether to wait or not. I just dont want to end up kicking myself in the butt!

 

I'm just plannin on goin with whatever Evo makes it to our shores first....don't matter to me much if it's the VII or the VIII, just as long as it's an Evo and it's fast
