SSL is the Sun Sound and Leather package available on the 04+ Evo's. GSR is the denomination for the middle of the road Evo VIII(I guess you could say). I don't know if it stands for anything, I have read certain places that they are all marketing tactics. There are 3 denominations of Evo's; the RS, the VIII GSR, and the MR respectively priced from lowest to highest. I read somewhere that MR stands for Mitsubishi Racing. Could just be heresay though.

FYI, some people say that GSR is not actually anywhere in the USDM Evo's descriptions... and that the base VIII is simply just an VIII, but everyone calls it a GSR

I agree, I think it may be a way to differentiate between the FQ versions available in the UK. Correct me if I'm wrong.

UT Evo, thats what I was thinking because I have never seen GSR on the Mitsubishi car web page, and I have been there to many times to call normal.

I think they just call it the EVO VIII, It's supposed to be the regular. RS and MR of course you already know what they are.

I don't even know if there's a VIII GSR anywhere... wasn't GSR a model of the VII? Maybe not... I just started thinking this...
