Would like your advise on used 03'
Hey everyone. I'm quite on the fence about a major purchase. Financial situations have resulted in my longtime girlfriend and I having more disposable income (the best kind) We have an S2000 & a SVT Focus for daily driving, but I'm feeling the need for speed... and boost... and AWD. We came across a good deal on a used 03' Evo VIII. We've figured that we could afford to pay for all three cars and have enough left over for living expenses, insurance, beer, etc. On the positive side, it is an awesome car. The test drive was amazing. I've never been pushed back into my seat like that. Such great recaro seats too. I'm getting into HPDE's. Nowhere near experienced or competitive enough to actually race yet though. Lots of fun to go out and drive my *** off.
Positives:
Awesome car overall... speaks for itself
Having a third car
ummmm.. it's a good car.
Easy to drive fast, i.e. opposite of S2000 (bites you in the ***)
Responds well to modifications (if I can afford them)
Negatives:
Attraching attention from cops/civic racing crews
Extra insurance (though we've figured it into the costs)
Another car bill
Less money to modify Focus and S2000.
Exploding clutches
Parent company not doing so hot.
Modifying cars usually gives them more opportunies to break
So, do I buy it and enjoy boost and leave all the cars relatively stock or do I save up and enjoy the great cars that are in our driveway now and modify them to enjoy them even more? Selling the Focus isn't really an option as I still owe way more than it's worth thanks to the horrible resale value.
2 relatively modified cars or 3 relatively stock cars? I know most of you will say "It's your money, do what you want". Just trying to get some opinions. Thanks in advance.

I say you get the EVO and modify that car. You will be impressed on how much more well it does when modded. Make sure you have the money for maintenance. You will love the EVO, I can guarantee it. Just make it a weekend driver and take the focus svt or s2000 for the weekdays. Also make sure not to be an *** when driving your EVO because you will get a lot of ****** that want to race you. Its not worth it to street race. When or if you get the EVO just leave the street racing on the track. I am 16 and I would know how much maintenance is and what street racing could do to your record. BTW, how much was the deal for???
thanks for the fast reply. I'm in Southern california so this might not be the best deal, but I think it's alright. $26,000 tarmac black w/22K on the odo. I totally agree with you about street racing. I'd rather someone call me a ***** for not racing them than to get my car impounded or even worse injure or kill someone. Drag racing bores me to tears as well (no flames). My girl drives the Focus and carpools with her brother in a Scion for the weekdays. I drive her truck (cable guy) so the Evo would definently be just a fun weekend car. Thanks again for the advise.
First Brother, The Evo Is A Great Buy For The Money. Use The Evo On The Weekends Mostly. I Highly Modified My Last Car And Test Drove An Evo And Was Amazed At The Way The Cars Pulls And The Awd. It Was A No Brainer, Two Days Later I Purchased An 03, Tarmac Black. As For The Reply On Drag Racing, Take It From Someone Who Lived On The Edge And One Day Got Into Deep S@#$!. It Ant Worth The Car Being Impounded And Fines. Take It To The Track.
