I love the attention my Evo gets. The cops don’t bother me; you just have to know where they don’t look.

Don't feel so bad, I have been driving well over 20+ years without tickets/any problems<knocking wood. Since I purchased my evo I've been pulled over 4 Xs. 2 speeding tix ( 1 thrown out, 1 reduced) , 1 loud exhaust tix (contested paid 35.00) 1 plate tix from temporary paper plate inside car not being visible ( car 2 weeks old) . ALL BS but I like my evo so F-it.

red can attract more people to pay atention to you while you drive, insurance charge a little more than other color due to the psychology or something.

you need the blinder jammer or something better.

If I knew, I would of bough a valantine AND a jammer or 2. That would of been cheaper than the tickets I've paid so far.

i have red and yes there will be alot more attention from cops/vandals.......also, you have to rememeber red fades over time (as do all colors but it is much more noticable on red)....so if you ever have to get some paint work, it may be a little problematic. Personally, if i had to do it over again, i wouldnt change my mind. Also, i used to own 2 black cars....I will NEVER own another black car again! Too much cleaning time.

Red is also the most expensive paint. The pigments to make it cost more.

I've had a red evo for about a year now. Your exact thoughts went through my head, but the truth of the matter is. You're going to get attention in this car no matter what color you drive. Just be smart about how you drive. It's a fun car and you will have those moments when you get carried away. If you are responsible, cops will leave you alone.

im gonna buy a used 2003 EVo sometime soon and im still juggling whether to get Black or Red.

I love REd and i'd like it if people noticed it when i drove by.... i plan on driving safely but there are those times once in a while when i drive a little fast

if any of you out there drive a red evo, then please tell me how long you ahve been driving it and how many times you had an encounter with the police
My last three cars have all been red. (Counting my current two) Yes, they get more attention, but my experience is that you are NOT more likely to get a ticket by simply driving a red vehicle. The only speeding tickets I have received have all been because I deserved them. The problem is doing something that makes you stand out from the other vehicles on the road. So if you are flying past all of the other cars, you stand out. I have never been picked out of a line of traffic. (I watched two idiots driving blue WRX's trying to race me get pulled over--the cop could have cared less about my RED Eclipse because I was obeying traffic laws)

With that said, I am a bit more careful in the Evo, but that is because of the carbon fiber wing on the back. That makes it stand out a bit more. So I've had police tail me for a bit until they realize I am only driving the speed limit and then they go about their way. I expect this would happen regardless of my Evo color as long as I have the wing.

On the plus side, I always get compliments on how nice the red looks even when I'm thinking my car is filthy. That's one of the reasons I stick with red.

Why do you say there is no clearcoat on the car? It sure looks like there is a clearcoat to me. Even the touch-up paint comes with a clearcoat side!
