Due for 30k mile service

First, what exactly is done at 30,000 mile service?

What aftermarket (replacement) products do you recommend? (ie. filters, spark plugs, etc.)

I'm also due for new brake pads. Suggestions?

Stock air filter? I was thinking of going with K&N.

Did you get the service done at the dealership?

The 30k service thing I got in the mail said it included new spark plugs, oil and filter change, PCV valve, engine air filter, cabin air filter, inspect suspension and brakes, and lube door hinges.

For only $400.

I saved about $360 by changing what needed to be changed, and inspecting my own brakes. They're fine for now.

The 30K maintenance also includes a full tranny service. That's part of why it costs so much.

The full listing of what they do is included in the back of your owner's manual. It's a little pricey, but it does include a little more than what you mentioned.

Also, we don't have a cabin air filter!

That's great, if you have an auto. Tranny service for a manual consists of:

Remove drain plug and fill plug
Drain tranny oil
Replace drain plug
Fill with new tranny oil until it starts dripping from fill hole
Replace fill plug

I already changed the fluid in my M/T, anyway.

Then how do we breathe the oh so fresh outside air without it being dusty?

If I do service at my dealer I get free tires forever. BTW, for autos, do they do a trans fluid flush/change at 30K? If they do that, then 400 is worth it.

I guess those of us to get the 45k miles of free service are really lucky.

I just checked my list of what they do at 30k, and it also says 'inspect and adjust intake and exhaust valve clearance (2.4L MIVEC)'.
