May be coming in here...

I've found a new Electric Blue '05 VIII w/no options I liked nearby. The dealer quoted a price of 28,400 when the C word came out... cash, not monthly payments. I had to go home and sleep on it for a night. If it's still there tomorrow and the dealer will let it go for 28,400+tax (no hidden extras ), I think I'm going to become a new member here.

My present ride is a 2003 Toyota Matrix XRS. Don't please. I got into autocross in the last few months, though. The Matrix is fun, but I think I want something a little sportier.

I test drove a used '03 VIII also. Since it was broken in, I didn't spare it. They're very nice!

I've been looking at Evos for a month or so. With all I've read, I was still surprised when I drove it around some.

I knew it was all over once I got into that seat. Those recaros feel great. But, driving it around was pure bliss. I'm still grinning from the test drive, heh.

why dont you consider an evo off these boards? alot of peeps are selling in order to get the MR. ive seen some as low as 21,000, and some at 25,000 with loads of mods. think about it.

Actually, I spent several hours going through the "for sale" boards here. I looked a lot of evos over. Many of them were too far from me (nowhere near the midwest). And while it's tempting to get one with mods, I want to get a feel for the car as stock for a year or two, especially for the sake of autocrossing it. Finding a stock Evo is hard.

Now, how am I going to get 800-1000 easy miles on it so that I can track it soon? I don't know how EVO owners survive that breakin period.

Pictures to come when breathing resumes.

Congradulations, I'm sure you won't be disappointed. As far as the break in period for me, it was easy because I was basically learning how to drive all over again. I took it easy for the first 1,000 miles (on the engine, not the clutch, lol).

It came with 20 miles. I'm already up to 135. It's so nice, even just for cruising. I just love how it feels.

But, I can tell it really wants to go. I'll try to get another 500 miles on before the weekend ends, then get the oil changed. After that, I'll try opening it up a little.

By the way, how is 28,500 (before tax) for an '05 VIII (GSR means not RS and not MR, right?) with none of the options?

Ah, another edit to this. I want to do some legal racing in it ASAP; namely SoloII and a few 1/4 runs. How long should I put these off for?
