Obviously not perfect if you're asking on the internet how to launch.Originally Posted by Import_Racer

What I mean by perfect is I won't kill it stopping at a light or sign, I won't grind the gears or chug the car, ect. I'm asking how to launch b/c I never drove a manual AWD.

straight from the horses mouth...
Thanks guys I guess lol. Oh I will be carefull and yeah I've seen some post on here about teens not being able to you know handle the power of an Evo but, yeah I'm not sure if I can handle it. It's not stopping me from getting it though. I can already drive manual I've raced manual and nothing happened I didn't miss-shift or anything(btw I didn't power shift or double clutch). Don't worry I'll be carefull (I'M A NATURAL BORN RACER FOO!) lol j/k.It is great my parents have the money to buy me an Evo. I will be working my *** off to pay my share of it off though ^_^
now with that being said, wtf is wrong with your parents for letting you race at 14? i smell bull all over this entire thread but w/e

good luck kid....
...evo should not be the first car you start with though...
why do you want the evo?

My parents do not know I race if they find out they will just ***** at me for racing they do however let me drive if I want to(I never do though b/c cops would be like wtf. I only drive when I need to or when it's close to where I live or with my parents). They found out we have been to street races and they didn't let me a my bro go out for like 2 weeks then things cooled down. My bro and I always talk bout racing in front of my parents lol. OMG you guys really need to know them to see how they are. My parents aren't like other parents like all stingy and **** they're tight specially my dad(I told him about these used Evo VIII 1 for 10,500 other for 10,900 he is like no just get a new one.) Anyways why I want an evo idk it's like the only car I've every wanted so bad it's been 2 years now and I still haven't changed my mind. Sorry if there are typos

BTW the first time I raced it was a 02 Honda Civic LX with just a muffler and CAI. I didn't mess up even though I was real nervous b/c it was my first time ever racing manual. Next time I race I will probably ride the clutch or miss-shift I must of gotten lucky my first time
. I never raced a manual AWD though.
. I never raced a manual AWD though. My parents know me+my bro+friends+cousins will be racing once we get our cars they just don't want us doing these things so young.

How are you racing/driving? Don't you have to be 16 just to get a permit? Just realize how lucky you are to be getting this car. There are people who all thier lives dream about owning this car and just cant afford it. For a 15 yrold kid who cant even get a full-time job and has not gone through puberty yet to recieve a 35k 280hp vehicle is insane. You're parents are cool and stupid at the same time.

I don't think buying a kid an Evo is such a bad idea, depending on the kid. Maybe I was one of the few with sense, but when I was 16 yrs old, my first car was a used '91 Mustang GT 5.0 and I never had a problem with it through high school. Never wrecked it, and never even got close to wrecking it actually. Never even got a dent on it. Not because I was the greatest driver, but because not every other word out of my mouth was race this or race that. (which sounds ridiculous coming from a 15 yr old by the way)
So my point is that what differs between you and the way I was, is that as I said, every word out of your mouth is accompanied by the word "race". As someone else said above, you have to (in other words, you have no choice unless you want to wreck), develop a technique before you go racing anything. Just because you don't stall a manual trans car out doesn't mean you are even 1/10 of a good driver. To be blunt, it isn't **** really. A well trained monkey can probably put a car in first and drive off without stalling. It's a no-brainer.
All that aside, no matter who you think you are, it's the rules that you must learn for handling and shifting at high speeds that you don't know. And even if you have read them, you haven't driven a car on the track enough to practice and improve. For that reason alone, what little knowledge you might have doesn't mean a damn thing without knowing how to properly execute what you know.
IF (and this is a big IF since I don't buy the story anyway) you get an Evo, for God's sake take it easy for a year or so until you learn how to drive better. And I don't mean just shifting, I mean entering and exiting corners, which is the most important part of not wrecking. Anyone can drive a car well in a straight line. That's not saying a damn thing to anyone who knows anything.
And for the record, the only "racing" that's worth anything occurs on the track. Blowing by your buddy's hatchback Civic while manuevering through a bunch of traffic doesn't mean a damn thing.
*sigh*
