"You are just now a proud owner of a japanese supercar", as a co-worker said to me. "You SUCK!!" was another co-workers reaction when I told him I picked up a evolution 8.

I actually have had it for 3 weeks now but the plates just came in. Mileage was 17K and the car has a HKS RS intake, and HKS hi-power exhaust. The BOV is stock but sounds really good. Whoosh... there was a little dent in the front bumper lip, and few scratches on the wheels but other than that. It's perfect... the shift knob has been replaced with a Razo knob. I love it.

***I've already violated my promise of babying the car...**** Took it out to the drag strip already 2 days ago. Best pass of the day was 14.09 at 97 MPH. (think a reflash would help??) Buddies of mine ran their EVO 8 and STI and got 14.6 for the Evo and 14.8 for the STI. So considering a fresh owner, 14.09 not too bad (Learned how to launch the day before).. but for a 13 sec car, that is bad. hehehe

I've been reading some of the posts and there's a wealth of info on here.. Hopefully everything goes good and I'm here to stay..

I think you will need a flash with that hks Rs intake.

Congrats! You will have tons of fun with the car. Make sure you have enough cash for a new clutch if youre going to take it to the strip often. I burned mine out at 8k miles with like 20 launches on it.

 

The main thing that worries me.. too much $$$

The only thing that sucks about having an EVO is it is hard to find competition to race. Not much has a chance.

 

They're fast, but they're not THAT fast now....c'mon. There's lots of things that'll give it a run for the money or beat it. But yes, it's a *fast* car.

At the track the modded Srt-4's, Eclipse GSX/Talon TSI's, and 240's make my stock Evo look slow.. but nothing a few $$$ won't fix..

 

Yeah you should be in the 13s, you probably need to get that intake tuned, it could actually being robbing power. Get a flash and your EVO will turn into an animal. 97MPH is not a good trap speed, if you get your car tuned and practice shifting quickly a little more, you should be trapping around 105-107MPH with just a Flash, Intake, and TBE. Unfortunately you just missed Big Al of dynoflash recent trip to MIN., but you still have loads of options, also get a MBC.
