First post... selling M3 and getting EVO

Well in the past four years I have gone from a S/C'd IS300 to a C32 amg, and finally my current M3 vert. Decided to go for something with a smaller payment and less miles. My big question is should I buy a left over 05 or wait for the 06? I like the improvements made to the interior and the additional 10 hp. Anyways dealers seem to be wanting to get rid of their 05's at a discount, is the 06 gonna be worth the extra $? Also having a hard time finding an 05 with leather and the sunroof. Here is a pic of my current car....

If you want less payments go for the 05. If the 0% fin is still on you will save a truck load of cash. You can spend the money you saved and spend it on mods, making your car way faster than an 06.

Start phoning dealers, someone must have an 05 SSL

This is one HUGE factor ppl arent thinking about. If you intend to mod your car a lot, then DO NOT buy the 06+. The variable timing is hard to tune and isn't as freindly. Although if you plan on just doing regular bolt ons such as exhaust intake and so forth then the 06 is the way to go. Pretty much its the same exact car with a few add ons for appearance differences, but mostly its just a different head on the motor. All on what your plans are with it.

Go for the '05; 0% financing and near invoice cost?! Hell of a deal.

Dealer can locate your SSL car no problem within your region.

Question is, where are you located at?

Personally, I bought an '05 becasue I hate the front end on the '06 and I'm not convinced about the tunability of MIVEC (I am aware that some tuners in Japan are having no problems with it).

I dont think the 06 is worth the extra cash, for the money you save you can make an 05 look better/ put out more power.

Welcome first of all.

I agree with the other guys...buying an 05 and saving a bunch of cash for mods is the way I'd go. In my opinion the 06s aren't different enough to warrant a purchase. I had considered it, but I'd rather wait for a full chassis change before upgrading to a new one. With regards to the Mivec engine...I wouldn't think it would be any harder to tune than the current motor...just look at all of the tuners working on Honda's VTEC motors.

I'd go for the '05. Having had both the c32, renntech'd at that, and an Evo 8 and RS, you won't miss the c32. I would recomend the SSL though, you could miss the coddling

Once ppl tune Vtec's with turbo they do run into massive issues with getting it how they built it for. If you dont have freinds with Vtec COMPLETE motor builds, then your unaware of the difficulties. Most ppl get ride of the Vtec or make it obsolete if running turbo.. seeing how Evo is turbo.. i can assure same problems occuring in high mod situations. I wasnt implying just your average bolt on. IM talkin about the true rip down and so forth.. Lets say a stroker kit for example.

I've been there and done that with VTECs, but there are guys that know their stuff out there. I see your point and know exactly what you are talking about, but you have to consider that most people don't do complete engine builds or hit 500hp+ numbers. Also...Honda motors are typically high compression motors automatically making it necessary to rebuild them with lower compression internals (if they are going turbo that is). We could start a whole new thread on this subject, but its all speculation until tuners actually get their hands on the motors... .

I personally like the new bumper, the smoked tail lights, and definitly the more refined interior and dash. The EVO seems fast enough as is . Might ad an intake, down pipe, and exhaust. Of course some coilovers and wheels . Oh and then there stereo . When new model EVO's come out are most dealers asking/getting actual sticker price? Oh, by the way I am in Sarasota, FL.

Sticker??? my guess is they will have it above sticker until all 05's leave the lot.

@ the 500+ whp.. thats kinda where i was going with that.. i didnt know his intentions, so if plans are to mod the $hit outta it.. then the 05 is best.. if your just plannin on makin it a show evo with a bit of power then the 06 is best. All on what the plans r for the owner.

P.S. Front bumper isnt my style.. not diggin it although you could buy a diff bumper.
