Currently the Evolution 8 will out perform the predecors. Evo 9 with 280+hp and 289 torque! Won't know till 9's are here. 9 has the numbers to potentially be faster and quicker especially around a track. (more power through a wider range plus suspension)
IX will more Faster cuz of Mivec.. alot Japanese Tuner and company are makein Aftermarkets for Evo IX (turbo, cams, manythings)... I cant image Evo IX Mivec Stoker 2.3.. that would suprised..

Also depends on Drag or Track...the heavier models have advanced ACDs and stuff while the older models just had basic 4G63 strapped on to a 5 speed manual tranny...that would be good for Drag since its nice and light. The new heavier models MAYBE quicker at the track depending on the whether the ACD, Suspension, and all other advancements have an advantage over its increased weights. No one knows for sure because it also depends on the driver. But i think the IX MR is the Quickest. Every Generation, they try to make the car faster...not slower...thats how i figure.
