Why no Super AYC in US evo?
you seem to be really hung up on this sayc thing.. we dont get it in the US and no one seems to be missing it. sure it would be cool but im willing to bet installing it would be way too expensive to be worthwhile.. the car handles amazing as it is. besides coming from a 3g eclipse to an evo, you would think it had the sayc if you didnt already know better. save up and buy a new one
the ayc (active yaw control) system was first utilized on the iv using a torque transfer mechanism in the rear differential. the system increases cornering performance by transferring torque between the rear wheels from side to side, sometimes making it one wheel drive.
mitsubishi then created the s(super)ayc, switching from the use of a bevel to a planetary gear differential. this gives the car almost double the amount of transferable torque power between the rear wheels. as quoted under the mitsu pamphlet, it reduced understeer and delivered traction much like that of the limited slip.

ooo ok i would wait for the ix because of mivec, and buying a used evo is taking alot of chances of the car was being beat before break-in period and you might have problems in the long run

I think it's a maintence issue and also a fact that roads in the USA are mostly straight therefore there is no real use for S-AYC which help reduce cost. Personally I would go for the the EVO IX not the X. It's more sporty and is a proven design that been refined over the years. The X will be a new platform and will most likey have issues are least the first release year, probably no 10 year 100,000 mile powertrain warrenty. I believe it will have some DSG tranny, which is nice but I prefer manual (for controled launches and stuff like that). Less of a hassle if something wrong also (no computer to mess with).
Good luck,
Brian
