Help with car choice
I am stuck deciding which car to purchase within the next year or so. The 3 cars are the evo, the wrx, or sti. I have been somwhat obsessed with subarus for the last several years, but i really know nothing about evo's. The more i look into it, they better they sound.
I know this is the infamous question that we've all answered a thousand times over, so instead of being a totall jacka$$, i did some research, but i still have some questions.
1. What are the hardware differences btw the standard evo and the mr? (ive heard the mr handles better than a subaru with most aftermarketcoiloversystems!?!)
2. Are the brembo brakes on evos the same as the sti brembo's? ( i hear alot of bad things about these brakes compared to stoptechs and rotara's)
3. does the evo have a twin scroll turbo? If so, is the header the only part needed to convert back to a standard turbo setup (in addition to the turbo)?
4. How much power can the evo tranny handle?? (i mean the gearset and tranny itself, i no the clutch has to be replaced quikly)
5. Since this will be my first car, the I-4 setup will be easier to work on then the subaru boxer engine. How much easier? Basically, how is working on the car? Do you constantly work in small spaces and have to remove things?
6. Does anyone have a surge map for the evo stock turbo? how much boost and cfm can it handle? What kinda numbers can you run on the stock turbo (hp/quarter)?
7. Ive heard the I-4 from the evo reacts well to modding and tuning better than subarus? Is this really true?
Any answers or input is awsome thanx guys!!

If your going suburu buy like a 95 RS, the STI engine is a direct swap and you will have a car faster then the sti (because its lighter) and a sleeper aswell.
The difference between the evo and the sti come down to driver preferance as far as Im concerned. they are both great cars.

im very familiar with the ej255 swap into the gc8 (sti engine into old skool rs), i am a huge fan of the swap and will end up doing it, just not as a first car. I plan on doing all the work myself, and if i started the swap i would end up with PROJECT that would spend most of its time in the garage with the hood up.
I need a car to work on and make my baby, but i also need a reliable daily driver. The rs swap will make a nice second car. Im also in college and moving around alot right now, couch surfin and stuff. The rs swap is def gunna have to wait. Thanx tho!!

i just found out the dif. btw the reg mr, but for some reason it doesnt seem like enough for the money?? Mabye im missing somthing but the onl significant thing seems like the coilovers.
Also i jst found out the evo has a twin scroll (which everyone here knows cept me), so im guessin everyone buying aftemarket turbos switches to a standard turbo. Wats that conversion like???
and the reason for this post.....BUMP
