Lotus Vs Evo

hey guys...i was wondering...considering that all the IX Mr's prices are sky rocketing...would you rather buy a used Lotus Elise or a brand new IX MR...i'm asking because I saw a blue one today...he drove by my friends and I while we were cruising....it was very nice...but the dude in the car looked at us like he was a king...my friend tried talking to him while we were at a red light but he was acting all cocky and saying all these things about my buddy's evo and STI's...he say he smoked evo's and STI's left and right ...and as soon as the lights turn green he took off...we say forget it and drove to wendy's for the dollar menu ...so how is the performance of an Elise compared to an EVO? Does anyone know?...thanks for reading guys...any info on the elise will help...

vastly different cars, but both awesome in their own right. An Elise is not a car I'd want to drive everyday back and forth to work, but for a weekend toy, it would be awesome

We got them beat at the drag strip, but they are amazing at the autocross and road course. They are in a higher class in SCCA Solo II, because we can't keep up with them...hell, we can't even keep up with S2000s in A stock (nearly stock, no boost, no tune, no dp/tp). They compete with and rock out with Z06s in the SS class.

I still wouldn't buy one, though. That's a very expensive car that is simply not practical for me.

if you want comfort lotus is def. not better than evo
but lotus is very light, but in a low speed crash it will shatter the bumper
dont know about performance wise though

To me both cars are fast, both are flashy and both are sporty with the big difference that the EVO is 10 times more practical.

It is amazing, when I lived in the UK I use to see a average of 2 to 4 Lotus Elises everyday. The market for Elises makes them very affordable, the EVO is significantly more valued in the UK than here compare to the Elise.

Have you guys sat in a Elise?, it is the most uncomfortable car around, the seats are little cushing pads over aluminium frame, there is absolutely no comfort or equipment and it is a challenge just to get in.

I take a Evo 9 MR anyday. Unfortunately some Mitsubishi dealers are taking advantage of the uniqueness of the MR therefore they are making huge profit on the sales consequently is afecting the reputation of the MR. People starts critizing the MR price for unfair reasons ..

i would take an elise over an evo any day of the week IF and ONLY IF it was my second car. i drove in one last week and it was BY FAR the most uncomfortable car i have ever been in. the car is harsh and very small and noise level is almost too painful. now performance on the other hand was AMAZING!!! the car is truly a go cart and teh steering is to die for. for the track, this would be my first choice. for everyday, this would be my last choice.

Nationally, there's no competition. Locally doesn't matter...it just depends on the local talent. At the Northeast divisional, there was only one Evo in AS out of 20-25 entrants, and that was me. My best RAW run was more than 2s off the class winner. There were no Evos in the class, because they knew it wasn't a competition. The good Evos were all in ESP and SM to avoid the S2Ks. The S2K's took 3 out of the top 4 spots, and the one who won had a combined 2-day time good enough to make top 5 in SM...that's just craziness.

Anyway, at Nationals, the C4s own the S2k's, too, which puts us further down the totem pole. That's just how it is unfortunately...

and amazing suspension, steering, weight balance, amazing power- to- weight ratio etc...

there is nothing even close to $50k that can touch the elise in its natural enviroment which is the track. a well driven elise can eat lambos and ferraries for lunch on the track. power isn't everything...

the Elise is a great car period! But, not practical and sooooooooo expensive to fix!
Spoke to a guy today... Small front end damage, non structural... 29K!

I thought about the car for a short while... Easy to track and maintain, but! Too expensive to fix.

Hmm, I dunno. People who really know their cars know that the Elise is an INCREDIBLE machine. Like I said, it's in a higher class than the Evo in SCCA. It has to compete with Z06s...
